Light & Dark Times we Live inThe "shortest day" generally means the day of the year with the least time of sunlight, and the most darkness. In New Zealand the shortest day is around June 20-21 and not nearly as dramatic as the shortest day in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland, around December 20-21, when the children would go to school and come home again in semi-dark and the deep water in the loch would darken dramatically. After the shortest day, about a minute more light occurs at either end of the day and the temperatures tend to fall into the coldest months of the year. All these familiar patterns of light and dark triggers thoughts of the unfamiliar patterns of light and dark world events as we watch prophecy unfolding. If we watch carefully, alongside our Bibles, we can observe the stark difference between dark and light events taking place in the world, and at other times the difference between the light and dark events might be blurred for a time to a shade of grey that can be confusing. But we know end of world events are occurring, and increasing daily. As an encouragement in the Bible we read: "But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation." 1 Thessalonians 5:4-8 As we have seen this year, 2020, dramatic and confusing change can and does happen overnight. Expect more dramatic change. We have been the subjects of a never performed experiment on the global human race as the COVID-19 viral pandemic has moved through the world, sadly leaving misery of many kinds in its wake. There is much confusion surrounding this event, we could say, "many shades of grey".
Just a few interesting facts emerging into the light. However, might we ask if this pandemic is actually a "Plandemic" as some are calling this global event, or could we use the term "COVID-1984" as others are when they refer to the dystopian novel written in 1949 by George Orwell? His novel is considered a literature classic, and though fiction (false), Orwell pictures a time in the future where people's lives will be controlled in every way imaginable. Could there be deception involved in the current global events? Might there be lies being told at some levels? Is there an agenda to control our movements, our daily lives, what we eat, when and whom we worship? Is all this a lead up to the mark of the beast? Assuredly, yes. And yet, there is one sure fact, a vast shining light that usurps all the grey and black in this world: All of us, everywhere in the world can choose to have the calm surety of an all-loving Saviour, who truly does love each one of us; who truly does love us to have quiet time in prayer with Him. We can have the calm assurance that every morning, we choose our Father in Heaven and his beautiful only begotten Son of God, our Saviour, to give us light to follow. And, we have the direct words of Jesus: "Take heed that no-one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.'" Matthew 24:5-8
